New adventures in 2014

It's been a long time since we've used this blog. But, I got some encouraging words from some friends at work today, who didn't think it was just too weird for words that this 35 and 31-year-old would now be living (again, we can't get away) in our camper. And I didn't even have to call it a social experiment for it to be acceptable to them. I told them I was throwing/donating/selling a ton, and felt great about it, and that Josh and I were sharing lives in a 16-foot camper. They encouraged me to post more photos and share. So....more to come.

Sweden, Denmark, Home.

Hello again. We are back in Seattle after a very relaxing holiday. We spent Christmas here in Washington with family, but headed over to Stockholm shortly after to visit with my (Josh's) Dad and stepmom. While over there, we had a great time exploring Stockholm, eating traditional Swedish food, chuckling about the funny Christmas candy names and walking the dogs. After spending New Years there, we all took the train to Copenhagen. There, Robin and I made our way up to Aarhus and visited with some of Robin's family. Both Robin and I have ancestors from Aarhus, so, it was great to appreciate that connection and be in the place where those family members originated from. We both felt a special connection to Denmark, and agreed to go back as soon as we get the chance to do so again. We left from Copenhagen and were back in Seattle a few days ago. Coming back home after the last 6 months of adventures was bittersweet, but we are so glad that we were able to have the opportunity to do what we did. In a way, coming home marks the end of our summer, but it also marks the beginning of a new chapter of adventures and exploring right here in beautiful Seattle. - Josh and Robin

A little taste of Asia and a new apartment in Ballard.

Hi friends and family. Just signing in for a little update from the last month. I just got a little taste of Asia on a very cool trip to Hong Kong, India, and Nepal. I plan to post photos to the Picasa site as I go through them over the next couple weeks. Josh has been at home moving us into a really cool new apartment in our favorite neighborhood (Ballard), and doing job interviews. We've both had a very good month. We are now having Christmas with my family and will take off tomorrow to visit Josh's dad in Sweden for 10 days and perhaps a little of my family in Denmark. Then Robin is back to work! Great summer/fall adventures are wrapping up, but we are looking forward to new adventures back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My brother, Erik, and his girlfriend Heather, just moved to Seattle for six months as well, so I'm super excited to have them in town. Thanks for checking in, I hope this finds you all well.

Fall in the Northwest

Fall in the northwest is so pretty. Our camper carried us back up from the Bay Area just fine. Even at it's slow 45 MPH on flats, we still felt like we jetted back up compared to our bike trip up the coast. We made some stops on the coast along the way, one being Cape Flattery, which neither of us had been to yet. Very rough and pretty, Northwest style. We now have a couple of weeks to find an apartment in Seattle, move belongings around, and get passports and visas ready for a couple trips overseas (China, India, Nepal, Sweden). Lots of new stuff coming, very exciting. Meanwhile, we are enjoying the turned Northwest leaves, driving a car with power steering again, and even the shorter days.
